Tyler is a teenager

Tyler's birthday was on a Sunday this year. He wanted German Pancakes for breakfast and Kelly was nice enough to make them. He found the traditional money in his pancakes. This year I was thinking about where that tradition came from. All I knew is my parents always put money in our breakfast on our birthday. So I called my mom & she said that it came from Dad's family. So I called Grandma Gale & asked her. She said that my Grandpa Gale always got money in his breakfast when he was growing up. They weren't sure if it happened earlier than that, but I think it's pretty cool that it's now at least a 4 generation tradition. Hopefully my children will want to pass it on too.

 Grandma Robb & my parents came for Tyler's birthday. It worked out that the primary program was on the same day, so they were able to see that too. I was pretty nervous for it, because I had to play the piano. I did pretty well without any major mistakes. I think mom was happy that all that money she spent on piano lessons is finally paying off. After church our friends, the Campbell's, came over for dinner and cake & ice cream. Tyler wanted ravioli's in alfredo sauce and garlic parmesian rolls. I added a few more things to make it a little healthier.Then he wanted carrot cake for dessert.

He is playing football again this year. He is playing both defense & offense and doing a great job! It's fun to see him growing. He is such a sweet, caring boy. He always gives people compliments and is very friendly. He tries to include everyone. He is so good with Kaysen & his cousins. He tries so hard to do what is right. I love seeing him reading the scriptures everynight before he goes to bed. He is an example to me. I'm so proud of the young man he is!

1st Day of School

Monday was the first day of school. The boys and I were so excited. Tyler wanted me to take him to school the first day & Kaysen wanted to ride that bus. Tyler is in 7th grade & started Junior High this year. He was really excited that he could ride his bike to school.  So Wednesday I finally let him, but he found it wasn't as great as he thought. He didn't really like the kids that were hanging around the bike rack & said they were using a lot of profanity. So he may not be riding his bike anymore. Kaysen is in 1st grade. He's excited that he gets to go to school all day & even eat lunch there! When we went to Back to School night for Kaysen we found his desk & it's right next to his good friend. We had a talk with Kaysen about not talking to her during class. The next day her mom said she talked to her about the same thing. We'll see how long the teacher lets them sit by each other! Kaysen is pretty disappointed that he has a sub for at least the first week. His teacher was in a horse riding accident and isn't able to come to school yet. I can't believe how fast the boys are growing up.

Last night Tyler advanced in scouting to Star. Here he is pinning me...(it's his favorite part!) He even gave me a hug in front of everyone! He also earned 10 merit badges. I'm super proud of him & the hard work he is doing in scouts!

New York Trip

Kelly has been training out in New York for a couple months with his new job. I was able to make a trip out there and visit him during the middle of June. While I was there he was able to take a couple days off work & we were able to tour around. We ended up driving over 1100 miles. Here are some picures of things we saw.

Boldt Castle--this is in Northern New York in the 1000 islands region. It was so beautiful up there. We took a boat tour that went into Canadian waters & saw a lot of beautiful homes.

 We were able to go to Niagara Falls. If you look to the right of Kelly you can see a boat. We went out on that boat and saw both of the falls. They were really impressive. We also took a jet boat ride down some class 5 rapids a little further down the river from this. That was a lot of fun. We got soaked, but it was worth it.

 We went to Palmyra to visit the Church sites there. It was such a spiritual experience for us. I hope someday to be able to take our children back & let them experience it too.

 Here we are at the Sacred Grove.

 One day after work we drove to Harmony, Pennsylvania. This is the monument for the aaronic priesthood restoration site. We also went down to the Susquehanna River, where Joseph Smith was baptized.

 After Kelly picked me up from the airport we stopped by & saw the Chittenango Falls. It was the first on several waterfalls we saw on our trip. 

We had so much fun. It was fun to be able to see where Kelly has been working for the last couple of months. He took me on a tour of the plant & I was able to see how the greek yogurt process works. It was fun mostly just to be together again & hang out again.
